I just finished, Three Weeks with My Brother by Nicholas Sparks this morning. He’s the author of other well-known books, several which have been made into movies. A few of his best known works are The Notebook, Message in a Bottle, and Nights in Rodanthe. I picked it up at the Goodwill for 50 cents but got 100 times my moneys worth.
He tells about a three-week trip he took around the world with his brother, but more importantly he shares his autobiography. Knowing that Nicholas Sparks is such a successful author and having aspirations of writing a novel myself, I was interested in reading his memoir. I had to plow through some of the stuff about his trip with his brother, but the story of his own life, kept me engaged and reading more. He’s been through a lot of pain, and many times I found myself reaching for a Kleenex as I read through my tears. I saw how he took the pain of his own life and used it to channel energy into his writing. If you like biographies, this one is worth reading.
Seen all three of these movies…loved them mostly, but decided to rewrite my own ending for Message in a Bottle and Nights in Rodanthe…..just cause I needed my own ending there. (But, Richard Gere and Kevin Costner…..is there anything really blah about either) Sorry, I know, I know….I’m your mother , but come on……..
Lisha, thanks for sharing. You know, I’ve had that book in my hands several times only to put it back and purchase a different one – think I’ll give it a try! I’ll be needing some good road trip reads.
